filled by Giulia & Romeo
Following the main road to Lecco 36, heading north from the highway exit to the tunnels of Verceia, looking west you can find a place unexpectedly delightful little known: the nature reserve of Pian di Spagna, the largest of Lombardy , a paradise for lovers of flora and fauna enthusiasts photographers. With their foto camera zooming into a specific point: Dascio, a fraction of Sorico, in front of the Pian di Spagna, where the river Mera flows into the lake of Novate Mezzola. To get an overview of the natural oasis you can climb up to Albonico, fraction of Sorico. All around the mountains, dominated by the massif of Mount Berlinghera, as a frame for a postcard that looks almost vintage. Because the place is untouched, away from the noisy crowds of tourists, almost hidden. Halfway between a Swiss shortcut and a glimpse of Manzoni location, this place exudes a poetic nuances that modulates according to the seasons and sunlight. Here you can walk, run by mountain bike or even ride a horse ... but particularly impressive is to rent a canoe at the 'hotel Berlinghera (0344 84037) and explore the river and the lake from the center. Here among the reeds and cattails many species of waterfowl. On the western shore of the lake is the temple of San Fedelino, accessible by canoe or on foot on, the oratory of the tenth century in Romanesque style, built on the presumed site of the martyrdom of San Fedelino. Just passed through here, well beyond the Middle Ages, the ancient route of Via Regina connecting Como to the Alps Fedele he was a soldier of the emperor who, having converted to Christianity, refused to make sacrificial offerings to the gods before battle. For this he was condemned to death, along with other soldiers converted. Fedele, escaped the condemnation and fled to Como Lake, and went up with a boat, to arrive at what the time was the most northern of the lake, Samolaco, where he was reached by the assassins of the Emperor and beheaded. On the site of the discovery vein erected the chapel we see today. Trivia: During the Second World War on the slopes of Mount Berlinghera, rich in natural hiding places and woods, was the 52nd Garibaldi Brigade garrison "Luigi Clerici" l, the same that took Benito Mussolini under arrest April 28, 1945, led by Pierluigi Bellini delle Stelle.
