Across the isthmus of Marcellinara, the narrowest point of Italy, where only 35 kilometers away from the Ionian Sea Tyrrhenian Sea, the group meets the Calabrian Serre, a long mountain range that offers unique landscapes and scenery, including forests and enchanted vestiges of ancient history. Along the many roads that reach the plateau from the coast, left the famous beaches of Soverato and Tropea, you find yourself surrounded by beautiful forests of fir and beech and chestnut is almost submerged by the most luxuriant Mediterranean vegetation. After crossing the ridge which connects Mount Mount Coppari Covello, we reach the valley of Serra San Bruno, an ancient mountain village known for the presence of the Charterhouse, founded by St. Bruno of Cologne, to continue until you reach the village of Mongiana, home of the Old Bourbon Ferriera, and then the Monte Pecoraro, the highest peak of the Serre. From magic Archiforo forest, the forest of Stilo, the woods of King Ferdinand, the former royal hunting estate of Bourbon, the forest of Santa Maria and Mongiana, Serre offer a wide variety of natural assets and fascinating hinterland in Calabria, in a majestic and pristine habitats, with a wide variety of mushrooms, chestnuts, walnuts, hazelnuts, and many other local products. At the edge of the forest on the slope that descends rapidly towards the Ionian Sea, the deep open valleys typical of rivers, such as Stilaro, Aces and Ancinale, that once climbed the wide stony river characteristic of the terminal trail allows you to admire another natural treasure of the Serre: the spectacle of the waters that come together in surprising lush gorges, beautiful waterfalls and deep pools. Along the Brigante path, which starts from the historic town of Stilo Gambarie crosses, through the Serre and Aspromonte, the torrent Stilaro climb up to the famous waterfalls of Marmara, near the town of Bivongi, and between vertical granite sides reaches 90 feet and moving up a steep path to reach the Ferdinandea complex, the Bourbon settlement for the collection and processing of timber.
