Just beyond Courmayeur the Dora is divided, giving the name of two straight and converging valleys: the North West the Val Veny and the North East Val Ferret. The Val Ferret begins just beyond the village of Entrèves (m 1306) and cuts at the foot of Rochefort Ridges, Grandes Jorasses, the Triolet and Mont Dolent, whose watershed mark the border with France, ending in the North East the Col Ferret (m 2543) that marks the border with Switzerland.
